ASHANA HEALTH LAUNCHES THE FUTURE OF REHABILITATION THERAPY
Updated: May 1, 2019
ASHANA Health has launched DynaWheel and DynaWheel, Jr. - the first affordable, portable digital gaming devices for patients rehabilitating or living with a myriad of conditions including, but not limited to stroke, concussion, upper body injury, ADHD, Autism, and Alzheimers, making recovery accessible and entertaining while increasing adherence to therapy protocols and improving overall results.
Invented by William Craelius, PhD., a professor at Rutgers University, the DynaWheel is a handheld device with a digital screen that is preloaded with games focused on motion, strength, cognition, and overall mobility to help the nervous system adapt to the changes in the brain and body.
The DynaWheel is intended to use in tandem with physical and/or occupational therapy, can be used in-office or at home, and incorporates an easy to use Provider Dashboard, reporting real time results to therapists and doctors.
A recent article by Johns Hopkins Medical cites that, “While more people are surviving strokes, many still face long-term disability,” and goes on to discuss the importance of early physical rehabilitation to improve function and reduce long term disability by rewiring the brain to function without the lost tissue.
Ashana Health was founded by Ashesh Patel, who combined his noble desire to help people with his first hand experiences of the the challenges of physical therapy after his own arm injury and after his grandfather suffered a stroke, requiring an extensive treatment plan.
“Personally, after one week of physical therapy, I was over it and learned that in general, PT has only a 16% adherence rate because patients are not engaged nor motivated.
On the other end of the spectrum, there’s a lack of data for the providers.
We emphasize quantifying patient progress and aim to present patient data to objectively track progress.
Our vision is to revolutionize the rehabilitation industry one game at a time."
