5 Fun and Meaningful Ways to Celebrate National Physical Therapy Month
It is time to recognize National Physical Therapy Month! Here are 5 ways to be deliberate with your celebration.
1. Participate in the Global Physical Therapy Day of Service on October 10th.
Each year Move Together spearheads this humanitarian effort. Participate in the “Get Caught Doing Good” photo contest with the hashtag #PTDOS for a chance to donate $500 to the charity of your choice.

2. Use your voice.
Especially in our current climate, advocating for the profession means lobbying for Congress to put a stop to the proposed 9% cut to Medicare payments for services rendered by PTs and OTs.

3. Highlight the benefits of cultivating physical activity through physical therapy.
This year’s theme puts the spotlight on the importance of physical activity and the PTs and PTAs vital role of incorporating it into our everyday lives.
What You Can Do:
Participate in a live chat or webinar discussing the benefits of movement and answering audience questions.
Share resources with current and prospective patients.
4. Make mental health a priority.
According to Forbes, approximately 35% of Americans showed signs of clinical anxiety or depression since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now more than ever, it’s crucial to work on removing the stigma surrounding mental health, and to make mental health improvement a priority.
One of the most effective ways to do this in your practice is to enact an Employee Resource Group. ERGs foster community, encourage non-judgmental discussion and provide education and resources to all employees.
5. Socialize, learn and show your support by attending the Celebration of Diversity Virtual Gala on October 15-17.
For more than 30 years, this gala has supported the Minority Scholarship Fund and raised $1+ million for scholarships since inception.
